Newman Mainstreet Project

The Newman Mainstreet Project

Newman Events

is a community project supported by BHP Billiton Iron Ore. The project's aim is to:

·         Build partnerships and encourage community liaison between Newman community groups.

·         Revitalise and promote Newman for the benefit of the whole community.

·         Encourage a community-based, coordinated approach to improve the economic, social and physical environment of Newman.

We achieve this aim through the following  projects:

·         Running the annual  Shop Local campaign.

·         Performing gap analysis on local facilities and services.

·         Operating The Beach indoor play centre for casual play and party bookings (a result of previous gap analysis).

·         Organising and assisting with other community projects and events, such as the Newman Outback Drags, 'Snow in the Outback' and 'Something Fishy' - barramundi fishing at the Newman Aquatic Centre!

Welcome to Newman

Newman Mainstreet Project, in conjunction with the Newman Neighbourhood Centre and major sponsors BHP Billiton Iron Ore, is in the process of developing a framework for organising and hosting Welcome to Newman’ events for people who relocate to Newman.

The aim of these events is:

·        To provide a welcoming and positive initial impression of the town of Newman, which is independent of employment related aspects.

·        To offer a forum for introducing the whole family of new employees to the services, resources and activities available in Newman.

·        To provide an opportunity for employees and families to meet and socialise with other new families.

For more information on the 'Welcome to Newman' Project, please contact the Newman Mainstreet Project office on 9177 8290.
